Only a few decades ago the situation was the opposite. To enumerate the reasons why this has happened would be long, tedious and, above all, repetitive. So in deciding to devote an entire issue of the magazine to the theme of “Italian singularities”, the editors of «Casabella» 967 set themselves simple rules without conceding much to clichés: they decided to document with ease the work of a number of small professional studios, also fiscally resident in Italy, active in trying to revive a cultural debate that is in many ways stagnant, not infrequently engaged in attempting to reawaken the university from the comatose state in which it finds itself, and, last but not least, never before landing in the pages of «Casabella». Once the brief profiles of the BDR bureau, Demogo, Enrico Dusi Studio, ErranteArchitetture, OASI architects and Piovenefabi studios had been prepared for publication in «Casabella» 967, it was deemed appropriate to do so in a slightly different way than usual. The result is a graphic design that aims to make evident the diversity of tones, attitudes, ways of working and expressive choices that characterise the professional experiences of the protagonists of «Casabella» 967, with whom the magazine would like to share the conviction that the time has come to escape the cone of shadow mentioned above.
