En 1952, Le Corbusier bâtit à Cap Martin un cabanon de 16 m², puis des unités de camping achevées en 1957. Dans ces lieux à l'intérieur très élaboré, se croisent les thèmes majeurs de l'architecte: réminiscences du voyage d'Orient, réflexions sur l'habitat minimal, mise en oeuvre d'outils et de projets sophistiqués, expériences à la lisière de l'autoconstruction, évocations de particularismes locaux et généralisations sur des modèles spatiaux.
